Last Day

With the school year quickly approaching, I retired from my post at Angel Machinery. Gone are the days of selling strippers* (Stef ~ that's for you), working with the testosterone component of my fam and signing big dollar amount checks! I came to work this past Tuesday to be greeted by a conference room full of goodies. Everyone was there except my brother, Nick who was out making deals happen! We had a nice lunch together and just sat and talked for a little while.

Although I suffered through some periods of extreme cruelty, it was a great experience! I have worked through the trauma of the highlighted event above. Many laughs were shared over the last couple of years. And as I am off to try my hand at teaching and hopefully on the path to a full-time position, I can say without reservation that I will miss Angel Machinery. And honestly, who knows what the future may hold...

Aw, Dad! The Chairman of the Angel Board.

The flowers contributed by Don. Thanks! Love the colors.

Terrie baked a cake! Okay, that's a lie. She was going to but with her arm in a sling it proved to be a challenging task.

The sentimental certificate they gave me. ::tears roll down face:: They are just so sweet!

Me checking out the goods. It really was a nice spread...especially the massage certificate! I need to "retire" more often.

Okay, this is the real certificate they created for me. This one actually is REALLY sweet.

The crew without my brother, Nick.
(l to r) Don, me (excuse the hair...it was humid), Terrie, my brother Joe and my Dad.

Thanks for many memories, guys! And don't think you are done with me yet!

*Strippers are not what you think. They are a part I sell for machines to help lengthen the tool life. However, the 12-year old in me thinks it's funny to say. Yeah, I know...childish. Meh. Whatever. You know you smiled.

  1. I'm actually really glad that you posted a link to a picture of a stripper -- because, all this time, and I never actually knew what they looked like. I think I would've been disappointed if you had actually ordered one for me.

Congrats on your early retirement. You are on to a new phase in your life, one that I think will suit you very well, and keep you challenged and happy. I am excited to watch it all unfold.

  2. That was so nice of them to throw you a little party. I'm sure you'll be missed b/c the bosses children always work the hardest (we know the Angel and VanderBloemen kids do) but they all know you are moving into a new job that you will be so great at! I also know how you feel since I work for my dad it is not easy leaving, but it is good that you are going to be doing what you want to do. Good luck with your new job!!
