Diary of a Wimpy Kid

To keep up with popular picks for YA literature, I perused a list of recommended books at the library. This book was on the list but I decided to venture toward some authors with whom I was already acquainted. After disappointment with Jerry Spinelli's book Loser, I decided to put this on hold at the library. That same day, a friend of mine who teaches teachers about children's literature gave this book a recommendation loaded with urgency! So....I read it. And I LOVED it.

This book is one that both students and parents will get a kick out of. It's main character (as seen above), Greg Heffley, chronicles his quest for popularity; something which many - young or old- can relate to. The illustrations are simplistic but fun. There are parts that make you laugh aloud while the rest of the book keeps a smile on your face.

Poor Greg! He gets picked on all the time!

Check this book out for a fun, fast and entertaining read! It's great in that it addresses taking responsibility, honesty and bullying in a creative manner. ENJOY!
