What a Flake!

Here's a very fun website for wasting time. You too can create your very own snowflake while saving paper! Look at my fancy work...aren't you impressed?!?

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

This morning, without the alarm's assistance, my eyes popped open at an ungodly 4:45 a.m. after a night of tossing and turning. I don't know if I was subconsciously giddy with the possibility of a snow day or if I am just becoming one of those people who can't sleep the night through.

Anyhow, I flipped on the TV to watch the scrolling school closings like it was playing the lottery. Come on, big money! In all honesty, I would have been perfectly content to have school today since I only saw my kids for half the day yesterday due to a meeting AND it was a really good day prep-wise. Hate to give up those days. However, after about 30 minutes, I finally saw it. Our district was closed and then the automated message from our superintendent came...it was official!

So, I checked a little facebook, read some blogs, responded to a few emails and then peeled myself out of bed about 7. I was feeling guilty for sitting home while everyone else was attempting to head to work so I took on the shoveling duties. That was some HEAVY snow! It's deceiving...looks like this light, fluffy confetti and then you scoop the first shovelful and realize it's nothing like you anticipated. Oy...my achin' back! Actually, I was bending at the knees. May I admit, it was more because I live across the street from my chiro and didn't want to chance them witnessing incorrect shoveling than any other reason.

After shoveling and spreading the salt, I walked around outside snapping some shots. I have a feeling I've worn my camera's precision out. I don't know if that's even a possibility but my pictures haven't been as sharp or crisp looking. I liked a few of the pics I got but not all of them. It really was beautiful outside...not too cold, not too wet.

The remainder of my day was spent watching the one movie with Scarlett Johansson that doesn't send me into a tizzy. It seems like she often plays the hussy role, breaking up marriages, and being all around annoying. I don't know why - she just gets under my skin. However, with her tresses dark and her serial hussiness on hold, I quite enjoyed her character in The Nanny Diaries. As that played in the background, I created a few math lessons for the mimio (making it interactive for my kiddos), read through some interesting school materials, and enjoyed the lights on my Christmas tree.

For the night ahead...grading some more papers and hopefully starting my Christmas cards. This week has flown by so quickly. Tomorrow is Thursday already! Phew. Only a few weeks until the holiday season hits full swing. My shopping is almost done but mainly because this year I've decided to pare back with gifts. It's pretty much just the fam. Please take no offense if you do not get a gift from me. Instead, let's hang out or catch up with a phone call...isn't that the true spirit of the holidays, anyhow?

Oh, yeah....Glee is also on with its SEASON FINALE (noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!). I love this show. It's become a social gathering time with either my friend Kate or my dad. Yes, my dad. He loves this show. He didn't want me to tell anyone because he was afraid people would think he was weird. Um, hello. This is a fantastic show...I say let them make fun! By the way, I have my new Glee playlist all set up for you at the bottom of my blog. Check it out! I don't know if my love for this show is due to its witty writing or the fact that I was in swing choir which wasn't always seen as the "coolest" hobby. Whatever the reason, I LOVE it.

Anyhow, enough babbling. More posts to come...I'll try to backtrack the best I can!
