Interesting...

Two things from this week of subbing that stand out:

#1: In the Kindergarten room that I worked in yesterday, a young girl was feverishly raising her hand for a little assistance on her writing. Her story was sweet, "I love Ana" with a picture of hearts coming from her head. So cute!!

She said, "Um, 'scuse me....what's your name again?" And I said, "Miss Angel" as I crouched down next to her. "Oh, yeah. {her eyes widen to the size of saucers} You are just like the tooth fairy!" And away she went with her work.

I love this. It just made me laugh!!! SO CUTE!

#2: I was subbing in the school I long-term subbed in this past Fall. My students were excited to see me, so I was begged and pleaded with to join the 5th grade table for lunch. I did. INTERESTING. It was good to hear what my kiddos were up to and amazing how much they've changed in the last few months! One of them is taller than me....not a hard feat but for an 11 year-old?!?

The interesting part was that one of the 5th grade boys asked if I had a facebook page. I responded with, "Do YOU have a Facebook page?" With a huge grin he responded, "Of course, Miss Angel, so does he and him and her...and I invited her to join but she won't." I was bowled over!

5th grade!!!! I just looked at him and said, "Aren't you a little young to have a Facebook page?!?!" He said with confidence, "No. Everyone has one." YIKES. Let's hope he doesn't research this out...because I will have to crush his friendship request.

On another note...that same day I had the Facebook conversation, one of my former 9th graders found me on Facebook via her uncle and requested my friendship. Oh, well. I had to Ignore that one. Good thing my profile is set to PRIVATE.
