Birthday Weekend - a week late...

This post is a tad overdue! Oh, well...you love me anyway, don't you?

I am now officially a Thirtysomething! Wow. How quickly that sneaks up on us. I can certainly admit that although I have a few more gray hairs and a couple lines deepening on my face, I do not feel any older. In fact I still don't see myself as a 31 year old. When I was younger that sounded ancient...now, I feel like I am still so young! I don't quite fit what my view of 31 was way back when. It's a refreshing shift in perspective.

Friday night (2.6.09) I met up with Dria and Aly for Gina's Tastefully Simple party. It was a great time, sampling great food. I am looking forward to picking up my purchases this week. There is this Butter Brickle cheese ball that sent me reeling to heaven and back, it was that good. Good luck to Gina on her newest venture!! If you check out the website and want to order from her...leave me a comment and I'll connect you to her.

On to Saturday. To celebrate my birthday this year, a group of my favorite gals got together for dinner and the movie, He's Just Not That Into You. I was a little flighty on the planning of the day. Originally I had thought about going tubing at one of the local ski hills; but figured that was really expensive and it was REALLY cold. So, the next best thing would be a movie! I ♥ movies, especially in the theatre.

Our group got together to see the 6:00 show, only to find it sold out. So, we decided to dine at one of my favorite places, Uno's. I had a delicious personal pizza and we all shared a decadent Peanut Butter cup dessert. Since our original plan fell through, some of the ladies ended up not being able to attend the movie portion of the festivities as the next showing was 9ish.

Stef and Kelly -- pretty gals

Tara and my sister...old friends reunite

Laura and me awaiting our food.

Me and Tara

Have I mentioned I have a bit of a sweet tooth?? Yum.

In order to kill time, we went to Target for a time-waster. You can always have fun at Target!!

And for Tara's next trick...box juggling!

My driving does cause this reaction in people often...

All our boxes lined up on my dash. Notice the teensy Target sign in the distance.

Once we had spent plenty of time trying on gaudy shoes and hats (I know...I'm practically begging for lice) we headed off to the movie.

Hello Kitty boots for Alex!

IT WAS SO GOOD. Now, I am easily entertained by movies so my expectations are somewhat lower than a lot of people's expectations. Yes, it was predictable. Yes, it was cliche in some respects. Yes, I did learn a bit about social cuing and took notes throughout the entire movie. Okay, maybe not that last one. Yes, I did fall in love with almost all of the male leads. Is that bad? It was a really cute movie. The entire cast did a great job. Ginnifer Goodwin was awesome. Scarlett Johanssen is not my favorite to begin with but she made my blood boil in this movie. Another person who made my blood heat up throughout the movie (this might get a little PG here...you've been warned):

Wow. I could fall into his blue eyes and swim for days! ::double sigh::

Okay, I'm done. I know I don't really need to use my blog to fawn over stars...but I can't help it in this case.

Sunday brought a laid back day, celebrating with family. Stef, Max and Lil Man joined the fun, too! They are practically family, so it was only natural they be there to enjoy the actual birthday dinner.

My mom made two kinds of delicious chili. One was a Chicken Chili and the other your traditional beef chili. I made Zucchini Corn Cakes (recipe from a previous post here) to complement the meal. It was so so so delectable.

Here are a bunch of my favorite pics!

Love this girl.

Big Max and Lil Max sharing a moment. Spitting image, no?

Red Velvet Cake my sister made for me

Max helps me blow the candles out...sort of

Uh, Auntie Amanda what are you feeding me?

My brother Joe...Lil Man's favorite Angel (or so my brother thinks/hopes)

Max is totally not interested in taking this picture...and yet, he's still adorable.

Who, me?

Max's Angels

And that's it! It was a great birthday. And as I said before, I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family and group of friends. Thanks, guys!
