Every now and then, it is important to take a breather and take note of the little things that bring a smile to your face. Here are a few of mine:

Emerson Freaks Out

Now, this may be a strange choice for what makes me smile. However, this picture not only makes me smile but laugh aloud in giddy merriment. So much so that it is my wallpaper on my computer screen. Many of you may think this is simply a cry for help, foreshadowing many years as a cat lady; reveling in my cat's greatest moments. However, I remind you that I have yet to send a Christmas letter out chronicling his adventures! Anyhow, this just makes me laugh because he gets so insane during a car ride...especially when his carrier had not yet been replaced. Ah, the many uses for laundry baskets.

Mraz Music

I happened upon this music video and fell in love with the beachy feel of it. It prompts a toothy grin to appear on my face every time I hear it. It conjures up daydreams of hot sand burying my brightly painted toenails, the din of crashing waves against hazy heat-pressed horizons and a good book. The catchy beat starts my toes a-wiggling and creeps through my body until I find myself rocking out! Enjoy. By the way, I think that Jason Mraz is absolutely darling; so I included the video instead of just a link to the song! Music in general is a huge part of my life. Words! Words! Words!

Nothing is as fantastic as language; whether written, spoken or signed. I recently received the hardcovered version of the dictionary shown above for a graduation gift. My vocabulary is something I always work to develop in order to communicate with clarity. The book itself is more than just definitions. It provides the history of how our language has survived and changed over thousands of years. The feel of the wafer thin pages to the aesthetic quality of each and every entry boggles my mind. I think it's an incredible tome. Here's a word selected randomly:
onchocerciasis. Interesting stuff. You should look it up!

Precious Pips

I had not seen this on TV but due to the conversation in the lounge, I decided to check it out. Thank goodness for YouTube! This is hilarious. Robert Downey, Jr. cracks me up as he aces the subdued Pip with the moves. Watch his face throughout, his expressions are priceless - especially before he exits the stage. It gets me every time! Ben Stiller plays the precise, step-counting Pip and Jack Black rules as the passionate, animated Pip. All three of them bring a certain Pip attitude that perfectly represents how it was done when Gladys was at the height of her career. Watch and enjoy!

Little Laughter

This video is from awhile ago but I know I can depend on it to put a smile on my face. This is Max, my godson, and me playing a game of Peek-a-Boo. I babysat him one day and this game brought on squeals of delight! So, I decided to try it again and got these robust belly laughs. It caused all of us to crack up right along with him. He's always good for a smile!
