Wisconsin weather is always a bit unpredictable; however, this spring has given us a run for our money! This weekend was quite eventful between tornado warnings, torrential downpours and a newly filled wading pool in the basement of the Angel abode! So, here is where I chronicle the sopping wet part of the weekend:
Here is a little picture collage of the new indoor pool...er, basement floor. To see these collage pics up close, click on the picture itself. Note: This was in the early stages of the damage done. Around 11:30, most of the Angel family was in the basement, trying to salvage some of the more important trinkets down there. For example, I found a binder of lesson plans I created the summer after eighth grade. It was a summer curriculum created for our neighbors. Apparently, I knew I wanted to be a teacher way back then! Notice my dad working on creating a second pump to help the sump pump that couldn't keep up! Today, the carpeting is completely saturated and emitting an odor that is comparable to a Summerfest port-a-potty. Today was Part 1 of the major cleanup...shop vac and utility knives in hand! After the basement was under a bit of control early Sunday morning, Joey and I decided to brave the elements and check out the water around the house. Some of the pictures in the next collage were taken around 1:00 Sunday morning, while the daytime photos were Sunday afternoon. The rain just kept on pouring! I particularly enjoy Joey scooping the rainwater up in his cup and pretending to sip it as though it were the nectar of the rain gods. (I suppose you had to be there to understand the humor of it all!)
As I mentioned, there was a wild aspect to the weekend, too! Well, to ring in a new decade for one of my very best gals ever, a surprise party was held in Stef's honor. However, it was a little tough to convince the guest of honor to venture out in the flash flooding to get her to our venue!
The night was planned out for Stef, Max and Lil Max to arrive at Riverfront Pizzeria Bar & Grill. This was not a new dining experience for many of us, as it was the site of our New Year's Eve celebration. A private room had been secured; appetizers and salad served. As guests trickled in, so did the water! It was a nice turnout for the night. Once Stef arrived, it was no longer a surprise...but we were close to pulling it off! We dined on four different types of pizza including a Cheeseburger pizza that many rave about! For dessert, we had a choice of warm chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies, fresh from the oven!Despite the inclement weather, all who attended were excited to be there to help Stef ring in 30. I was excited, along with a few other guests, that she would finally be joining us in the 30 club! It's not as scary as it sounds, I promise! Here are some pics from the night. Enjoy!
Guest of honor and her hubby! Happy (early) Birthday, darlin'!
The gals! We are a smiley bunch.
Laura celebrating with Lil Max! Aren't they cute?
